Alloy Mental interview

Summing up the composer Martin Corrigan, Dj and producer Phil Kieran, and guitarist Danny Saul has the result of Alloy Mental, a North Ireland band, combination of techno, punk and rock. Thanks to their music the support of renowned Dj's to their first single "Alloy Mental", they are now publishing at Skint Records their first album "We have control".

EM - Alloy Mental is defined as a fusion of Punk rock with Techno. This concept is being developed for many Dj's actually on their works, maybe with more electronic rhythms, but also punk among the years has been introduced in more and more electronic melodies. Do you think there is a natural tendency to explore this mixture of sounds? It is an evolution?

Martin - To my ears in the electronic world techno is its punk rock, so yes it would seem quite natural to marry the two and hope that the offspring develop into something special.

EM - Do you feel somehow pioneers with your music or there are references of another inspiriting previous bands or Dj's on it?

Martin - The real pioneers in this field are Nitzer Ebb who forged ahead over 25 years ago. We have taken some of their ideas and run with them.

EM - From electromuzic.com we must recognize your music was quite new for us, but the little we have listen to, has surprised us and has left a very good taste. How is audience responding to your music? Is your new debut LP "We have control" working good?

Martin - The Audiences that we have attracted have been great. The LP has been well received and is selling well and I believe that it is about to be released in the rest of Europe.

EM - In your web you mention that from the very beginning of the band renowned Dj’s such as Laurent Garnier, Tiga or Erol Alkan received with enthusiasm your ideas. How does someone fell when creating this kind of excitement with his own music?

Martin - All musicians have egos and they get massaged when things like that happen, in a way it sort of legitimatizing your work.

EM - What do you expect from Klubbers’ Day? Do you feel you got lot of fans following your work here or is it an unexplored market?

Martin - We have played in Spain before so we may have some fans already there but also hope to pick up some more. Klubbers’ Day sounds like it could be a brilliant day out...
